Want music tracks for aerial footage?

We all know how important it is to source good music for your aerial footage. Some people would say that it is even more important than the footage itself. A common complaint I hear from people who post their aerial footage online is that their videos are taken down because they are using music that has copyright protection. So I will compile list of sources where you can choose from creative commons tracks and use them freely with your footage.

Always make sure that you credit the musicians in your video as it takes time and effort on their behalf to make the tracks. You will find that they are often very happy to hear their creation being melded with another type of media.

1) Firstly we have the free music archive . This is a comprehensive library of CC tracks. They are organized by genre and the site has new submissions regularly.

2) Next us is Jewelbeat. Although this is not as well organized, you will still find useful tracks and sound effects to work with.

3) Auduinatix is a well organized library that boasts a variety of genres to choose from.

4) Freesound is one of my favourites sites when I was into music production. You can search for music by using tags. It can be difficult to find the perfect track but if you invest some time searching then you will be sure to find a diamond in the rough.

5) CCTRAX hosts a mixture of CC licensed music. It is comprehensive and well organized but make sure to read what type of licence is attributed to each track so you don't run into problems further down the line. I have compiled a short description of each type of licence below in order for you to fully understand how much freedom you have using each type of licensed music.

(For those who are more adventurous there are some great track by Plexus of Infinity. These are available at the link.)

To help you find and choose your soundtrack safely we created this list, but before we start lets clear which licensing models are available today:
Probably the most common: "Creative Commons"

Creative commons is probably the most common way to licence music today. Compared to licences such as "all rights reserved", creative commons aims to provide an alternative. The creative Commons website describe's what actions you have to take when using music labeled with "CC". In most cases the minimum requirement is an attribution.
Music without attribution: "Royality Free"

Unfortunately in most cases Royality Free music is not actually "free". The sunny side is that you most of the time, you dont have to attribute the creator/composer, but be sure to read the terms when purchasing as some of the sites only let you use the music for one project.
The friendliest of all: "Public Domain"

If you want to go extra safe and extra cheap, public domain (also labeled as CC 0) is the way to go. The downside is that the music you will find has probably been used in every 5th video on youtube. If you find something that works for your project you have the right to "do what you want with it".

  1. Drones are being extensively employed in the sector of photography. It started as a hobby, however recently it's taken knowledgeable flip. A mini drone is an incredible tool which will facilitate capture exciting aerial shots that were out of the question before. you would possibly have seen gorgeous aerial shots of landscapes like mountains, rivers, deserts and fields in movies. A eggbeater is sometimes used for cinematography such pictures within the motion-picture show business and an oversize crew is gift to help the camera person.
